Summary
Charlie D. is hiding behind the stucco wall feet away from the entrance of his house, contemplating the events that led to the restraining order that keeps him away from his wife and family. He and his wife, Johanna, had been going through serious marital problems, but after he confessed to cheating on her with their 19 year old babysitter during couples counseling, she had immediately filed for the restraining order. As first-person narrator, Charlie remembers meeting Johanna while he worked as a consultant for radio stations in Houston, their home town. Johanna is a very tall, over 6 feet, beautiful German woman, and at the time she was looking for someone to marry to renew her green card. Charlie left his then girlfriend and gleefully obliged.
