Summary
In Chapter 36, Homer and Ada arrive at a clearing where children are playing, and Homer notes how they are playing as if nothing bad ever happened. Ada asks Homer if it is okay. Juna gives Homer and Ada some grapes. Previously they had squashed their hunger, but Homer thinks, “the fruit hit our bellies and our hunger woke up” (163). The joy of the fruit temporarily makes Homer forget about Southerland and their missing mother. They hear a loud sound from above. It is Sanzi who thinks she is like Suleman arriving from above. Sanzi accidentally shoots Ferdinand with her bow and arrow.
