Chapter 9: Life Is Dangerous

Out on a quest, Freak is in his usual spot atop Max's shoulders. Frank is directing Max through various neighborhoods including a ritzy one which Freak refers to as the Castle of Avarice. Freak claims he is being guided by a compass that was used by Lancelot and even the Black Knight. Even though Freak is very light, after several miles Max is becoming exhausted but Freak pushes him on. They finally come to a large medical research facility. After Max swears on his spit that he will not tell anyone, Freak reveals that he is being fitted for a new body—a fully robotic body.
