Summary
Mary Shelley visits Bedlam in Chapter 16 to see Victor Frankenstein who tells her he is the monster she created. Mary Shelley asks him how he could have come to life from the pages of a book. Frankenstein begins quoting Mary Shelley’s book and then he tells her that he and the monster are one and the same. He asks for her to unmake him. Dr. Wakefield draws Mary Shelley aside and tells her he believes the mind is an invention. Mary Shelley drinks wine. The chapter ends with Victor Frankenstein looking out the window and claiming he can see the monster.
