Summary

In Chapter 8, Brigadier Majid received a report from his astrologers. The report described a prophetic vision - “ghostly figures gathering on the Imams Bridge” (110). Shortly thereafter, Majid saw a television news report recounting an incident on the bridge where pilgrims had gathered for a religious ceremony. Several people were trampled when rumors of a suicide bomber spread through the crowd. However, Majid remained focused on a criminal loose in Baghdad whom he believed responsible for a string of strangulation murders. Majid's senior astrologer claimed the criminal was called “The One Who Has No Name” (112). Majid sent two of his men (wearing pink shirts) out to find and arrest this criminal, but then wondered how they would go about doing this if the criminal was, in fact, bulletproof.
