Summary
Section 2, Chapter 9 – Famine arrives with the third horseman. Millions die of hunger around the world every year. In America, the time is fast approaching when its own people will not be able to be fed on the food it produces. A large part of this owes to the demise of the family farm, numbering 6.8 million in 1935 to just two million today. This is due to several reasons, including agribusiness, real estate value of farmland, and a modern disrespect for farming as well as high taxes. Plagues will also come along to kill innumerable people. A pandemic flu is expected. There will also be earthquakes, with the greatest earthquake in history to come. There will also be lawlessness.
