Part Four: Exit Wounds: Chapters 87 - 93 Summary
Dr. Coles takes Alex out onto the porch. Nana is not well, and she is getting old. She has to rest more than she does, and Kayla chastises Alex slightly for the hours he keeps. The next day Alex works upstairs for a while, knowing Nana's tests are due. When he talks to Kayla, she confirms that Nana has atrial fibrillation, but with noninvasive treatment should live to see a hundred. Director Burns offers Alex a job with the FBI, but Alex postpones him. He'd rather concentrate on getting closure with the case he is now working on. Alex goes downstairs and Nana jokes about still being on the right side of the grass, and they talk about taking a vacation after she's had her procedure. A fax is waiting when he goes...
