Chapters 23 and 24 Summary
Trantor had been border-to-border metal buildings but now has intermittent fields. Lee Senter meets those from the ship, offering the universal sign of peace - both hands extended palms up. Senter invites them in and notes that Bayta takes a seat among the men and even accepts a cigar, which she obviously enjoys greatly. Senter says that the current economy on Trantor is based on farming and trade. He says that the people raise much of their own food and that they trade the unlimited supply of processed metal to those on Neotrantor for other things they need. Toran says that they have come to study from the tomes at the university library, and Senter at first seems reluctant.
