Chapters 21 and 22 Summary

As the four travel toward the university library, they are bombarded with news bulletins from the Mule. The bulletins are little more than self-congratulatory messages lauding the Mule's successes. One particular newscast ends with the news that the Mule's forces are now occupying Haven - the planet Mis, Bayta, Toran and Magnifico just left. Magnifico seems terrified at the near miss. Mis wonders why Haven gave up without a fight, but other planets are fighting to the death. Mis insists that Magnifico has some piece of information that will help their cause but says it's likely a detail so small that neither he nor Magnifico has recognized it.

As the four are working together to plot a tedious course through enemy territory, they are approached by a Filian ship. The Filian captain demands their passports and traveling papers. They tell him...
