Part 5, Epilogue Summary
After reviewing his impressive credentials, Hari at age 81 wonders about his mistakes. He has finished recording the Crisis holograms that will guide the Foundationers after his death. Utterly alone, he works every day from a wheelchair in a building full of memories, with the Prime Radiant cheering him that 30,000 potential years of chaos will shrink to 1,000. The Encyclopedia Galactica documents Hari falling asleep at his desk with the Prime Radiant in hand. It is sent to Terminus and his body is jettisoned in space as he wished. Eto attends the memorial service and again vanishes, while Wanda cannot be reached. Hari dies with the future unfolding around him.
Part 5, Epilogue Analysis
The brief Epilogue lets Hari describe what he has accomplished in his lifetime. He has regrets and unanswered questions, but is comforted that psychohistory will shorten the dark ages substantially...
