Summary
In Chapter 27, Curzon woke in the night because he had to go to the bathroom. On the way back, he was accosted by Burns and two hefty men. Burns told Curzon that the captain would not believe anything Curzon said because he did not like black people. The men beat Curzon until he was unconscious and took his boots.
In Chapter 28, when Curzon returned to the hut, he would not tell them who stole his boots.
Meanwhile, a blizzard kept them from getting rations for two days. On the second day the men were sent back to their huts early. On the third day they were told to stay inside and not even come out for roll call. They ate firecake for the next couple of days.
