Summary
In “Every Life is Strange,” Jules recalls hiring a fortune teller for his daughter Maya's bat mitzvah. The woman had looked at Jules' palm and asked him to come back and see her privately. He never did this, and she died of cancer six months later. Back in the present, Jules is in Tel Aviv. He goes swimming in the Mediterranean and nearly drowns. He is pulled to shore by a Russian tourist. Jules gets a call from Rabbi Klausner, who invites him to observe Shabbat at his retreat in Safed. They had been on the same plane coming over from New York, and talked about the recent changes in Jules' life. In turn, Rabbi Klausner invited Jules to a “reunion” (108) he is organizing for the descendants of King David. Jules considers possible meaningful donations...
