Summary
In Chapter 22, Fife returns to recalling his stay at Stanley and Gloria’s home. Stanley comforted Fife after Fife learned of Alicia’s miscarriage. While conversing, Stanley mentioned that he was now an anti-war activist, and he advised young Americans on how to avoid the war draft. Mostly, he advised them to flee to Canada. In Chapter 23, Malcolm and Emma argue about whether they should continue with the interview, or whether they should stop. Malcolm wants to continue, even as Fife begins to grow weaker and more incoherent. Emma threatens not to sign a release for the footage if Fife dies, Malcolm decides to worry about that matter later, and for the time being, he continues to record Fife.
