Summary
In the beginning of Chapter 7, Secretary Sun took Mei to the Chairman; he was idly floating in one of the pools. He invited Mei to eat with him; she observed him eating gluttonously. He told her he had a mission for her, involving deception. The Chairman feared the president was trying to usurp him. Therefore, his idea was for Mei to trick the president by getting the student population (whose age group she was in) to revolt against him. Mei was eager for the opportunity to be of service to the country and to impress the Chairman. In Chapter 8, Mei slept with the Chairman again and stayed the night with him. In Chapter 9, Mei began to take calligraphy lessons to prepare for the mission; she needed education to appear to be a student. She did not question the ethics of the mission...
