Summary

In Chapter 7, back at home, Annemarie goes to the stable to spend time with Hurrah. She is lying on Hurrah’s bare back when Dan finds her. Dan is confused when Annemarie tells him it has been an awful day. He thought she wanted Eva in the program. She tries to explain how hurt she is that Eva wants to leave her and how her life will have no purpose once Eva is gone. He asks if she is unhappy with their relationship. She says the answer is not simple, that she loves him, but never sees him. She wants to tell him she wants to be married, but cannot make herself say the words.

Later that day, Annemarie calls Roger to tell him Eva’s news, including the training program, the marijuana, and the expulsion. As she talks to Roger she hears...
