Summary
The boy had relieved himself of any concerns before approaching his bedroom window with his carpet. He squeezed through the window and took flight. He flew “high over the hedge” (81) in his garden and flew through his neighborhood. As he flew, he observed the objects and buildings that were familiar to his neighborhood. When he looked down and saw a boy shading his eyes to look up at him, he started to panic about how dangerous his position was, so he turned around and flew back to his house.
The next few nights, the boy stayed awake planning “voyages” (82), and the day after his high-flying incident, he flew higher than ever before.
