Jason Taverner

Jason Taverner is the novel’s protagonist. He is a famous singer and variety television show host residing in Los Angeles. He is in a long-term relationship with famous singer Heather Hart. Secretly, he is also a genetically engineered human called a six, and thus supposedly superior to regular people. His personality is generally defined by selfishness and arrogance. One day, Jason is hospitalized following an attack by Marilyn Mason, a woman with whom he had had an affair. Jason falls asleep and wakes up in a cheap hotel. It soon becomes apparent that everyone has seemingly forgotten who Jason is. Moreover, there appear to be no records of Jason’s existence.
