Summary

In Chapter 13, Leeds and Fortney met with Anne and Letch about Blaze. Leeds and Fortney relayed what they knew about Blaze from seeing her in local bars. They theorized about Miles's and Simon's potential involvements in her death. Convinced that Oliver had killed her, Letch said their conversation was "a waste" (223).

Ambrose woke up wishing "it had all been a dream" (223). He avoided looking "at his face in the mirror" (223). Then he realized he "was numb" to everything that had happened (223). As he went about his day, he felt the numbness fading and "was struck with overwhelming sadness" (226).
