Summary

In Chapter 10, Blaze barely "left her Shelter Island hotel room" (165). Although nervous about Oliver, she comforted herself that "she'd soon have" $15,000 from Ambrose (165). She called Simon to confirm that their plan was in place. Then she called Anne, who had more questions about the murder. Blaze pretended not to know who Oliver was. Anne insisted that the robe must have been Blaze's, which meant she must have witnessed the murder. Too afraid to tell the truth, Blaze said she had loaned the robe to Dawn.

On Wednesday, Fortney decided to find Blaze. He had taken an interest in her. Meanwhile, Simon wondered if he could trust Blaze. He went "out that night to hunt" her down (171).
