Bryce Loski

Bryce Loski is seven years old when he moves in across the street from Juli Baker who is also seven. The moment that Juli jumps in the moving van to "help" him, Bryce is immediately annoyed by the pushy little know-it-all. He spends the next two weeks hiding from her which is difficult because she's constantly knocking at his door asking him to play. Bryce is also unable to escape her at school. They're in the same class and ride the same bus.

Bryce spends much of his time over the next several years avoiding Juli or thinking of ways to avoid her. He doesn't egg her on but he's not honest with her and his passivity allows Juli's obsession with him to continue for years. Perhaps something deep down within Bryce enjoyed the attention she gave him although he wasn't mature enough to vocalize those feelings...
