Summary

Fleabag is a one woman play. The main character is a 26 year-old woman who lives in London and is known only as Fleabag. Throughout the play, Fleabag interacts with different characters but only the actor playing Fleabag is present onstage. The stage instructions indicate that the other characters can be either pre-recorded voiceovers by different actors or performed onstage by the actor playing Fleabag switching between different parts.

The play begins with Fleabag attending a job interview with a male interviewer, referred to in the text as Male Voice. Fleabag is out of breath and very hot, having run to the interview because she was late. The Male Voice informs Fleabag that he found her resumé funny, which Fleabag is concerned by as she hadn’t intended it to be.
