Summary
At the beginning of Chapter 1, Julie has arrived in Boston, prepared to begin her career as a college freshman. She immediately realizes that her apartment is a burrito restaurant. She and her mother have been scammed. Julie stands on the sidewalk with her luggage and stares at the building. Then, she calls her mother and tells her the news. In turn, Julie’s mother calls Whitney College but receives no help. She makes a second call to Erin Watkins, her old college roommate. They have not seen or talked to each other in years.
Meanwhile, Julie's updates her Facebook status.
