Hercule Poirot
Hercule Poirot is a private detective who specializes in studying crime from a psychological standpoint. He is contacted by Carla in order to investigate the murder of her father, which took place 16 years prior, and determine if her mother really was innocent as she claimed in a letter she had written to Carla.
Poirot interviews not only the five people who were with Amyas and Caroline on the day that Amyas was killed but also talks with the lawyers and police officers involved in the original investigation. Using not only hard evidence but also making assumptions based on how people generally behaved in the situation in which the five people found themselves, Poirot determined that Amyas had been killed by Elsa.
