Summary

Chapter 2, “Sunday, April 26,” focuses on the day stated in the chapter title. The book shifts focus to Greg Butler, a Black resident of Baltimore. He was in his early twenties in 2015. Greg was acutely aware of police violence against Black communities. Kareem—a friend of Greg’s father—was a successful Black man with an increasing amount of influence and status. Kareem was murdered by an unknown assailant. Greg was personally doubtful that racial justice would be achievable in Baltimore.
