Summary

“Mr. P & the Wind” takes place in a zoo and is narrated by a lion called Get Along, Go Along.

In the first chapter, “The 24th Hour,” Get Along, Go Along recalls living in Africa before he was captured, and relates the story of a lion he knew there named Box. Box had been cornered by a hunter and prepared himself to die, but the hunter said that he would not kill Box at this time because it was not his “24th hour” (246). Get Along explains that lions are inactive 23 hours a day, only in the 24th hour do they hunt. This hunter wanted to kill Box when he was active, so it was more of a challenge.
