Summary

In “With the Beatles,” the unnamed narrator recalls events that occurred while he was in high school. He remembers seeing a girl walking down the hallway clutching the album With the Beatles to her chest and thinking that she was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. After this one instance, he never saw the girl again, but the memory of the image is indelible. The narrator notes that he was never very interested in the Beatles, as he preferred jazz music.

He explains that he was never very popular with girls, but he got his first girlfriend about a year after he saw the mysterious girl with the Beatles album.
