Chapters 5 & 6 Summary

Lily follows Scout down the stairs, through the library, and down into a labyrinth of limestone hallways without being detected. She's far enough behind that Scout can't hear her, but when she hears metal grating against metal, Lily throws caution to the wind and shouts, "Scout, are you okay?" When there's no response, Lily sprints down the hallway to find a huge metal doorway too heavy for her to open on her own. It's obvious that Scout somehow managed to get through the door, but Lily cannot figure out how. She decides that the best she can do is sit and wait for Scout to return and offer any help she can then. She isn't sure when she falls asleep, but sometime later, Lily wakes to the sound of footsteps racing toward the other side of the door. Whoever is running toward her...
