Chapters 20 through 23 Summary
In Chapter twenty, Jacinda's mom announces she's leaving the following day to sell one of the stones. She says she'll travel some distance to make the sale to minimize the risk that they'll be found. Tamra is immediately excited, asking if they can have cell phones with the new money and move to a better place. Their mom says it will only ease the strain and perhaps buy a new car for the girls to share. Jacinda pleads with her mother who agrees to show her the gems one last time and promises she's only going to sell one, the amber. Her mom reveals that their father had been looking for another pride to take them in the night he was killed because he knew their pride was going to demand she mate, eliminating her choice in the matter.
