Chapters 4 through 6 Summary

In Chapter four, Az is waiting for Jacinda when she returns to the city but Jacinda's mom is abrupt in asking Az to leave. As soon as Az is out of the house, Jacinda's mom tells the twins to pack. She says they are leaving that night. Mom says they are to bring anything they believe to be important and as many clothes as they can. She says they won't be returning. Tamra is immediately excited and Jacinda knows that's because Tamra has never fit in here and that her mother hasn't since her father's death and her mom's decision to stop manifesting. Though it's not clear why their mom doesn't manifest, Jacinda sees it as an "act of solidarity" with Tamra. Her mom tells Jacinda her life will be simpler if she lets her draki go away as well.
