Summary
The chapter begins with Maggie desperately searching within her past memories for any clue about her first sexual experience and how it may have affected her desire—and pleasure—in Chicago. Maggie’s thoughts are interrupted by a recent memory in January of 2017 when she refuses a trip with Thomas in the Turks and Caicos due to her plan to be in Chicago in April, the same April readers know Margaret has sex with James. The next section is a journal entry Margaret makes on June 6, 2018, more than a year after her visit to Chicago. She writes James about a new book she is reading and of what Kate is up to.
