Summary

In 7 AC, Rhaenys gave birth to Aenys Targaryen. He was small and sickly, and some said that he might be the baseborn son of one of Rhaenys’s favorite singers or mummers. When she died, the boy and Aegon were distraught. In 12 AC, Visenya gave birth to Maegor, who was strong and healthy. In Valyria, incest and plural marriages were the norm, but in Westeros both were forbidden by the Faith. Aegon had no daughters, so his sons married outside their bloodline, Aenys to his cousin Alyssa Velaryon, the daughter of Aegon’s master of ships, in 22 AC.
