Steve Bannon was the Chief Strategist of the Trump administration until August 2017. Unlike Trump, Bannon has a highly coherent worldview based on hypernationalism and an isolationist foreign policy. Upon joining the Trump campaign in August 2016, Bannon became its most prominent ideologue, filling a void left by the candidate himself. Bannon’s views were particularly influential during the early part of the administration.
