Jane Shen

Jane Shen is one of the protagonists of Fiona and Jane. Jane is born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She lives there all her life. Jane’s family is originally Chinese.

Jane’s vision of a perfect family comes tumbling down when her father, Baba, comes out to her as gay. Jane feels responsible for Baba’s suicide since she outed him to her mother. The feelings of guilt and abandonment which Baba’s death inspires in Jane makes it difficult for her to maintain healthy, long-lasting relationships.

All her life, Jane aspires to be a writer. She ends up working odd jobs to make ends meet, never fully committing herself to her writing career. Fiona is Jane’s biggest supporter of her dream.
