Chapters 10-11 Summary
In Chapter 10, Nayir drives to Nouf's escort, Muhammed's, house to question him about Nouf's whereabouts on the day of her disappearance. The day that Nouf disappeared she called Muhammad early in the morning and told him that he wasn't needed for the day. Through Muhammad, Nayir learns that Nouf was planning on running away to New York on her honeymoon and that an American, Eric Scarberry, was paid well to help her achieve her plan.
In Chapter 11, Nayir continues his investigation by visiting Nouf's fiancée, Qazi, at his father's shoe factory. Nayir's impression of Qazi is that he is just a boy. Nayir doesn't believe that Qazi would do it. He finds out that Qazi didn't know of Nouf's pregnancy until the day of the funeral—and denies that it was his.
