Chapters 2-5 Summary
In Chapter 2, Nayir volunteers to pick up Nouf's body from the morgue. He does so because of the guilt he feels over having not saved her, and then not having found her. He does not want a servant to do it, but feels that it should be the duty of a friend.
At the morgue, Nayir insists on seeing Nouf's face to make sure that it is her. He is surprised to see that she suffered a head wound and that there were scratches and bruises on her arms. Furthermore, the examiner informs Nayir that wasn't killed by the head trauma but by drowning. The examiner explains that the family has asked that the case be closed and no examination will continue.
