Summary

Michelle found shelter a week after she ran away at a Baptist church that supplied hot meals for the homeless. It was Thanksgiving Day. She had been sleeping on a stack of newspapers in a small park. She didn’t sleep well afraid of rats gnawing in the trash cans. She found a bat to protect herself when she slept. It was too cold out in the open, so Michelle found a bridge that would give her more shelter from the wind and cold to sleep under. The “bridge” was really a highway overpass. Michelle secreted herself in the tall grass at night to sleep. She felt safer there, liked her privacy and there were no cops around.
