Summary
Find Me is a sequel to André Aciman’s earlier novel, Call Me By Your Name. Chapter 1, “Tempo,” begins about ten years after the summer recounted in Call Me By Your Name. This chapter is narrated by Samuel “Sami” Perlman, the father of Elio Perlman. (Elio is the central character of Call Me By Your Name.) Sami is a professor of archaeology and related cultural subjects such as art, architecture, history, and literature, mostly focusing on the Ancient Greeks and Romans. He is about 60 years old and is Jewish. He is from America, but he lives in Italy. At the beginning of the novel, he is on a train in Italy. When the train stops in Florence, a woman boards the train and sits near Sami. The woman is about 30 years old, and she has a dog with her. Sami begins conversing with her...
