Chapters One through Seven Summary
Alexandra Cooper is reading a "mock up" of the New York Post's front page that includes the story of Alex's death. The report is based on mistaken identity and the dead woman is actually Isabella Lascar who had been staying in Alex's house on Martha's Vineyard. Alex is a New York City prosecutor who works specifically in the sex crimes division. On this particular day, she has her friend Mike Chapman with her. He is a New York City police officer who works homicide cases.
