Summary

In Chapter 4, Swiv woke up and found Elvira lying on the kitchen floor. The wheel on her walker had broken, causing her to fall. She had been lying there for hours, but she was laughing. Swiv helped her up and asked why Mooshie was “so weird” (59). Elvira said it was because she was “fighting on every front” (59) and she is “afraid of losing her mind and killing herself” (60) like Swiv's grandfather and Auntie Momo.

In Chapter 5, Swiv woke the next day and found a note from Mooshie with an apology “for being such a shitty mother” and a quote about how “the mother teaches the child to handle frustration by being one” (62).
