Chapters 1-4 Summary

Fifty Shades of Grey is the first in a trilogy of erotic novels featuring Anastasia Steel and Christian Grey.

In Chapter 1, Anastasia Steel prepares to interview Christian Grey for her friend Kate Kavanagh. Kate is the editor of the school paper at the university they attend, WSU Vancouver, and she has just come down with the flu. Ana is nervous because she feels ill prepared for the interview. All she has is a list of questions Kate had planned to ask. When Ana arrives at Christian Grey's office building, she feels underdressed. This feeling increases when Ana meets the receptionist and other female workers on Christian's floor since they are all blond and well dressed. Then Ana is called into Christian's office and promptly falls as she steps through the door.
