Point of View
The author writes the apologue from the third person omniscient point of view. This narrative vantage allows the narrator to adopt a seemingly god-like, or mythic tone. The narrator has access to each and every character's thoughts, heart, and spirit. The point of view lends an expansive to the apologue's thematic explorations, but also unites each of the characters on the page. Though the author is exploring the barriers which divide living creatures one from another, and those that distinguish mortals from immortals, the narrative point of view acts as a uniting force. Each dog, human, and god, is under the power and authority of the overarching narrative hand and voice.
