The Wheat Sheaf Tavern
The Wheat Sheaf Tavern is the bar where Hermes and Apollo discuss their initial proposition for the wager. At the start of the apologue, the two brothers hypothesize about what might happen if dogs were granted the gift of human intelligence. Their night of drinking and frivolity leads to the implementation of their plan. Because the veterinary clinic is nearby, they decide to use the dogs enclosed at its kennel for the subjects of their game. The narrative ends back at the Wheat Sheaf Tavern, years after the start of the wager, and after all the dogs have died. The god discuss the successes and failures of what has happened, and reflect on mortality as they drink beers.
