Structure
Fear is constructed as a series of vignettes about Trump's interactions with his advisors. The book begins with Trump many years before his run for president, and it continues into his campaign and his first two years in the White House. There is very little filler or editorial content; instead, the book is a series of scenes between Trump and the people around him. In these scenes, Trump's dialogue is reproduced, along with that of the people around him.
The book moves chronologically through the first two years of Trump's presidency. Most of the meetings concern foreign affairs, including Trump's policies on the war on Afghanistan, the response to the Iran nuclear weapons deal that Trump worked out, the threat of the North Korean nuclear weapons program, and Assad's war against his own people in Syria.
