Importance: Donald Trump said this to the author, Bob Woodward, and to Robert Costa on March 31, 2016. He used this principle to approach everything--from his reaction to North Korea to his relationships with women. In essence, however, Trump's policy of inciting fear in others was not as effective as he thought, and, while using it to craft real estate deals was one thing, using it on the world stage was another. He decided to try to instill fear in the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, but Kim Jong Un was as reckless as Trump. As a result, Trump pushed the conflict with North Korea into dangerous territory. Fear is also not a real endgame in itself. Trump liked to create fear in his adversaries and even the members of his administration, but after destabilizing others, Trump only wound up destabilizing himself...
