The Narrator
The narrator is a young man who has just learned that his father has been in a fatal car accident. Throughout the story, the narrator struggles to come to terms with his father’s death, and we learn that the narrator is afraid of living life without his father. His relationship with his father is so strong that he stays with the coffin all night before the wake. Outside of his relationship with his father, the narrator is in love with a woman whom Urroa does not reveal much about, but the narrator’s relationship with her presents a brief moment of emotional conflict early in the story.
