Summary

Maya feels betrayed because her sister Lauren talked to Claire behind he back. During dinner, she explodes and says that she wants to find her biological mother and learn about "our story" (276). Lauren says that she already has a story, there with her family (276). Maya's father says that she should wait until she has another "adventure," and Maya is offended by the word.
