Summary

In Chapter 28, Cath is alone on a Friday night in her dorm room. She thinks that she has a whole weekend to work on fanfiction and her fiction writing assignment. She gets a call on her cell phone from Wren. She is so surprised that she doesn’t answer on the first ring, but she does on the second ring. The voice on the other end isn’t Wren’s. It is her mom telling her that Wren has been dropped off at the hospital because she had too much to drink.

She finds her mother in the sixth floor waiting room but doesn’t recognize her as the person she remembered from her childhood. When the doctor finally comes to tell them that Wren will be okay, Laura leaves. Cath is upset that her mother doesn’t even want to stay to...
