Chapter 10 Summary
On the way to school, Jehangir tries to persuade Murad to sell their books to help raise money for the family. Murad will not agree on the grounds that it would not produce nearly enough money. After they part, a friend of Jehangir talks to him about a cricket match coming up later that day. It will be between Catholics and non-Catholics. The school, St. Xavier's, doesn't really condone such distinctions, so his friend has to whisper the names of who will be playing on which team. In an assembly at the beginning of the school year, Father D'Silva told how, many years ago when cricket first became popular in India, there used to be an annual tournament.
