The Castillo Family Home

By the time the novel opens, only Isaac, his mother, and his grandmother live in their family home. Mr. Castillo has been forced to leave because of his alcoholism. The house is next door to the Honeyman house. It is here that Marco practices basketball because Isaac has a hoop.

The Honeyman House

Marco and his mother live next door to Isaac’s family. Marco crawls through Isaac’s window frequently, and since the boys live next door to each other, they drive to school together.

Mendez Middle School

The novel opens on Marco and Isaac’s first day at this school. It is pretty much a typical public middle school. There the boys take numerous classes, meet friends, and join the basketball team.
