Isaac Castillo

Isaac Castillo is the second protagonist of the novel. He is Marco’s best friend. Since they were very young children, he has always looked out for Marco. He did this on the soccer field when they were kids by helping him up when Marco’s athletic inabilities caused him to fall, and he did this later on when they were older and he chose Marco to be his partner in a race even though he knew Marco was not a strong athlete. As they start middle school, he still looks out for Marco and protects him in any way he can. The primary way that he does this is by trying to help Marco make the basketball team so that Marco can impress his father.
